Manasa Ayurvedic Hospital is established to cure mental diseases and inaugurate mental and physical wellness through our traditional (Desheeya chikithsa or Hela wedakama) psychiatric treatments.
Neelammahara Hereditary Psychiatrist’s tradition has been brought down throughout 7 generations of Sri Lankan Ayurvedic practices and treatment methods that are encrypted into the inherited tradition of Ola Leaf (Palm Leaf) manuscripts. These manuscripts exhibit 22 types of psychopathologies that are used to treat psychiatric disorders which in comparison are more similar to descriptions given in modern psychiatry classification.
Our Ayurvedic psychiatric treatment tradition has a history of 300 years, where it originated from a Royal Physician who served a famous Sri Lankan King called Sri Rajadhi Rajasinha of Kandy, who ruled out the upcountry in the 1890s. We use the gifts from mother nature to combine a natural and holistic approach to treat our clients to naturally heal themselves and reconnect with mind, body and soul with our Sri Lankan Ayurvedic treatment facilities. This makes our clients’ stay more of a vacation than a treatment centre!
